Description The Wamin bamboo, also known as Buddha’s Belly Bamboo or Golden Bamboo in Asia, originally comes from China and has been cultivated for a long time. In the wild it can be found everywhere in Asia and at many locations in Australia. In nature, it grows to a height of 5-8 m, grows densely, clumps and forms curved green culms that turn yellow with age. What is striking about the thick ‘stems’ are the swollen internodes, which also give the bamboo its typically Asian appearance. The leaves shine in a strong green. Fresh shoots are bright light green. After 5-10 years, the bamboo is just 1.5m-2m high, but it should not be planted too close to fences or walls. This only applies to temperate zones anyway, since the plant only tolerates temperatures down to -2°C. Sowing Advice The seeds can be started indoors at any time throughout the year. Press the onto moist cultivation soil, cover them thinly with the substratum and move the container in a warm spot. Given temperatures around 25°C and even moisture, the seeds germinate after 15 to 20 days.
