Description The plankton light reactor II with a capacity of approx. 5 l is a simple system for producing plankton in a natural food chain. In the plankton light reactor II, microalgae are grown using light, fertilizer and the carbon dioxide content of the air. These can be fed directly to many filter-feeding animals or used to breed zooplankton. The integrated 10 W LED lighting provides sufficient light and thus a good reproduction rate. With sufficient nutrient content, the mass of the algae can quadruple in 24 hours. The plankton light reactor II is equipped with two connections for the simultaneous supply of air and CO2. The CO2 content can be increased by pH control if there is a high demand for plankton. The lid has a holder for a pH probe. However, additional CO2 addition is not necessary for normal requirements. For easy partial removal of plankton, there is a hose with a dosing clamp and holder on the housing lid. Seawater or freshwater algae, phytoplankton and zooplankton can be cultivated. For aeration we recommend our Mistral 100 air pump or larger models.
